New York officials interrupt party with COVID-19 and alcohol violations

NEW YORK (AP) – New York City officials said they shut down an illegal group of more than 200 people who violated pandemic restrictions in a food hall.

According to the New York City Sheriff’s Office, revelers at Queens Luxe Banquet Hall early Saturday morning were not social distancing or wearing appropriate face coverings.

The owner and an employee at the Queens location have received summons for violating emergency orders, selling unlicensed liquor and storing unlicensed liquor. Two other staff members received citations for violating emergency orders, the sheriff’s office said.

A call to the room for comments was made on Sunday.

New York guidelines allow indoor arts and entertainment spaces to operate at 25% of the room’s capacity and require people to wear face masks except when eating or drinking.
