New Thunder Bay COVID-19 Case Linked to Travel


The district now has two active cases, with the 109th total confirmed case of COVID-19 announced on Saturday

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit confirmed its second case of COVID-19 in as many days on Saturday.The district’s 109th case involves a resident of Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, the health unit reports.

It is believed that the individual’s exposure to the virus is linked to travel outside the region.

Details such as the person’s age and gender are no longer published by the health unit. The province’s COVID-19 online database, which includes these details, has yet to be updated with information on the new case.

Along with the case announced on Friday, there are now two active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District. Another 107 are considered resolved, including the death of a local man in April.

Friday’s case was the first reported in the district since September 30. The two new cases represent a total of six reported since the beginning of September.

The health unit reports the episode date of October 6 for the most recent case, which is the first recorded onset of symptoms, specimen collection, lab tests, or the date reported to the health unit.

The individual is now self-isolating, reports the health unit.
