Arsenal deadline signing Thomas Partey received a warm welcome from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Ian Wright on his first day at the club.

The Gunners signed Ghanaian midfielder Partey from Atletico Madrid earlier this month after paying his £ 45million release clause.

Partey won the Europa League and reached the Champions League final during his time in Madrid and hopes to have more success in the Emirates.

The 27-year-old had his first day at the Arsenal training center on Tuesday and Aubameyang, Lacazette and Wright were among those who welcomed him to the club.

After being interviewed by Arsenal’s digital squad, Partey came across Gunners legend Wright, who scored 185 goals for the Premier League club and played in their 1997-98 title triumph.

Wright told Arsenal’s new signing: “I can’t touch my guy! Be a man yourself because I know you are busy. Take it easy. Go do your business. Glad to see you my friend. It’s Partey’s time baby!

Speaking this week, Partey said he was delighted to partner with “great players” like Aubameyang at Arsenal.

He said: “It helps me understand that the club want to achieve bigger things and for me it’s great to play alongside great players like him. ”

Partey added: “I think it’s a big challenge, I want to experience new challenges and also in a big family like Arsenal, I am ready to give everything and try to help this big club to get back to its place. .

“I still have a lot to develop, I have even more to learn with this new family. I’m going to have to learn more to achieve all of my goals and meet the club’s goals as well.

After Arsenal made a deal for Partey, Gunners boss Arteta said: “We’ve been watching Thomas for some time, so we’re delighted to add such a quality player to our squad.

“He’s a dynamic midfielder with great energy. He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League for several years.
