Neil deGrasse Tyson Earthlings warn, an asteroid may be heading towards our planet before election day, but it’s probably not going to kill us … but maybe something else will. The famous astrophysicist posted a photo of the giant rock rushing towards Earth, with the caption, “Asteroid 2018VP1, a refrigerator-sized space rock, is speeding towards us at over 25,000 mph. “
He goes on to say that he could have contact with Earth at a disturbing time… “It could create a buzz on Earth on November 2, the day before the presidential election. But it’s not big enough to cause any harm. So if the World ends in 2020, it won’t be the Universe’s fault. “ Neil, who hosts Fox’s new show, “Cosmos: Possible Worlds,” hasn’t said what else could end the world as we know it, but we have some ideas. As for the asteroid … NASA has confirmed that it on a trajectory to eventually strike the United States on November 2. It’s 6.5 feet across and there’s only a 1% chance it’ll hit somewhere in the country, but still… it’s 2020. The space agency says there are 3 possible impact points, but they weren’t specific. Awesome.
