Henry said there were 1,688 active cases of the disease, of which 69 were being treated in hospital, including 18 in intensive care.
There have been 11,854 reported cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia and 254 deaths. The most recent death occurred at Peace Portal Seniors Village in Surrey, where 16 people contracted the disease and two died.
Henry said there were 4,156 people in self-quarantine after potentially being exposed to the disease. Almost 9,900 people who tested positive have recovered.
There have been three new outbreaks in healthcare settings – at Evergreen Baptist Care Society, Good Samaritan Victoria Heights and Sunset Manor. Outbreaks at George Derby, Langley Lodge and Chartwell Crescent Gardens have been declared over.
A total of 17 assisted living or long-term care facilities and two acute care facilities have active outbreaks.
“There hasn’t been a new community epidemic,” Henry said. “There are always exhibition events in the province. Public alerts and notifications are posted on the BC Center for Disease Control website and on the websites of all health authorities.
“We have the ability to decide what our COVID-19 wave looks like in British Columbia by continuing to take personal precautions and using our layers of protection, wherever we are.
