This claim was made by Robert Lacey, author of “Battle of the Brothers” which is published later this month. Mr Lacey’s new book focuses on the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry and claims that it has deteriorated sharply in recent years.

This includes Harry and Meghan’s dramatic announcement that they intended to step down from the Royal Family in January of this year.Mr Lacey said: “The problem with the Royal Family is that they don’t know how to wake up.

“Woke is not going to go away.

“He’s here to stay, and Meghan is the epitome of that.”

Meghan has been outspoken on a number of issues, including women’s rights and the environment.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also been accused of making partisan interventions in the upcoming US presidential election.

Republican Congressman Jason Smith wrote to the British Ambassador to claim that their comments represented “an inappropriate act of domestic interference” in American politics.

He said: ‘By allowing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to retain their titles and have these political comments continue, the UK government is effectively forgiving the interference in the 2020 US presidential election by officials at the highest level of the British establishment.

“As you know, the British royal family has long followed a policy of strict neutrality in political matters.

“I am therefore concerned about the recent comments of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regarding the presidential election in the United States, especially given the international conversations surrounding foreign interference in our election and the Duke’s status as guest from the United States.

“These actions represent a serious violation of the policy of political neutrality of the British Royal Family and an inappropriate act of internal interference by one of our closest allies.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has called on Harry and Meghan to lose their royal titles over their politically charged remarks.

Last month, Donald Trump was asked about Meghan’s latest comments at a White House press conference.

He replied, “I’m not a fan of his.

“And I would say this – and she probably heard it – but I wish Harry luck, because he will need it.”

After resigning as royals, Harry and Meghan briefly stayed in Canada before moving to California shortly before the state was locked down against the coronavirus.

The couple recently moved a £ 11.2million home north of Los Angeles.

This luxurious property includes a swimming pool, tennis court and children’s cottage.
