Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the subject of a ‘witch hunt’ and should be supported and not sacked by Manchester United. That’s according to former Red Devils defender Paul Parker, who doesn’t want to see Solsjkaer replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.

Former Spurs manager Pochettino has long been linked with the top-level post at Old Trafford, and his name has already been added this season.

Solskjaer’s Manchester United have started the campaign badly and are currently in 15th place after four games played.

But the Red Devils responded in Europe last time around, beating Paris Saint-Germain away in the Champions League.

And now Parker is calling for an end to speculation, saying Solskjaer needs support.

“I think there is a witch hunt against Man United in some ways,” Parker said talkSPORT.

“People are watching a situation that is going on within the club and their hierarchy. There is a huge problem against Ole Gunnar as Manchester United manager.

“There are a lot of people who can’t wait to throw knives every time United lose a game who never slap him on the back for winning a football game, but they will throw knives when he loses.

“He’s a good fit for Manchester United right now. Something like that was needed after Jose Mourinho left.

“It had to be someone who was going to put the club up first and watch every area that needed the soft touch or just a little hug and he went and did that. ”
