Macaulay Culkin reminded people to wear their face masks in a social media post on Wednesday.
The Home Alone star, 40, recreated a memorable moment from the film by wearing a face mask reflecting the shocked face of 10-year-old Macaulay while playing the goddamn Kevin McCallister.
Culkin used a bit of dark humor in the caption, telling fans, “Just stay safe with Covid and wear it by the scratched skin of my young self. Remember to wear your masks, children.
Face off: Macaulay Culkin urged fans to wear masks while recreating the Home Alone 2 poster with a slightly disturbing coating
The novelty mask made the Party Monster actor look like he was clutching his face, much like the movie poster.
But the proportions were very slightly shifted, giving his mask a disturbing side.
It looked like Macaulay had had time to think about the scene, as he posed in front of a mini-model of the Empire State Building in a nod to the sequel to the 1992 film.
While the scene is one of the film’s most defining moments, director Chris Columbus revealed how the scream actually “was an accident,” during the film’s 25th anniversary celebration in a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly.

In the moment: Director Chris Columbus revealed that the ‘iconic scream’ wasn’t actually scripted that way, telling Entertainment Weekly in 2015: ‘The expression on the poster with his hands on his cheeks – it’s was pretty much an accident ‘
“The iconic scream – the expression on the poster with his hands on his cheeks – it was pretty much an accident,” said the director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
“It wasn’t written the way Macaulay performed it. I thought he was going to slap the cologne, move his hands and scream.
“But on the first take, he slapped himself and kept his hands glued to his face like he had just put superglue on his face, and his hands stayed completely still as he screamed like the painting by Edvard Munch. “
Inner Child: Home Alone sparked four full sequels, as well as a 2018 short film / commercial called Home Alone Again With The Google Assistant, starring Culkin himself.
Chris was impressed with Macaulay’s instinct, adding, “That’s why he was such an interesting kid: no one else would have done that. “
The 1990 Christmas classic was a smash hit, grossing $ 476.7 million at the box office on a budget of $ 18 million.
