Three parts of the West Midlands now have higher Covid rates than Level 3 areas
Three parts of the West Midlands now have higher coronavirus infection rates than some Level 3 locations, according to the latest figures.
Walsall now has a rate of over 310 cases per 100,000 people, which is higher than Wirral.
Cannock Chase also has a higher infection rate, with 301 cases per 100,000, up from 203 last week.
More alarmingly, South Staffordshire has a higher rate than a few Tier 3 locations.
The West Midlands borough has a rate of 372, which puts it above Fylde and Halton, at 350 and 333 respectively.
Both locations remain subject to level three restrictions.
The figures were released by the Press Association, the news agency compiling statistics based on the Public Health England (PHE) scoreboard.
