Live updates as level 3 restrictions expected in other parts of Nottinghamshire

Level 3 restrictions could now be imposed on more districts and market towns in Nottinghamshire after the government withdraws its agreement for a ‘overhaul’ amid rising infection rates in the north of the county. It was initially understood that Nottingham, Gedling, Broxtowe and Rushcliffe would be subject to tighter restrictions from one minute after midnight on Thursday 29 October.

The terms of the deal, including the financial packages and what it means for businesses, were to be announced Tuesday evening.

However, no announcement was made.

Broxtowe Borough Council Deputy Chief Steve Carr then claimed the council posted the terms at the agreed time of 7:30 p.m. on its website.

But the government got in touch “20 minutes later” to ask for their removal as ministers “rethink” as infection rates continue to rise in Ashfield and Mansfield.

Lilian Greenwood MP for Nottingham South and Ashfield District Council Chief Jason Zadrozny revealed that another meeting with all council leaders will take place this morning (Wednesday October 27).

The meeting is expected to take place at 9 a.m. and end later around 10:30 a.m., with discussions supposed to involve the Level 3 meeting for more districts and boroughs in the county.
