Nine new positive coronavirus results have been returned in the latest round of Premier League testing.
Last week, the Premier League announced 10 new cases – the largest number of positive results confirmed by the league after a series of tests.
Liverpool have announced over the past seven days that midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane are self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
A Premier League statement on Monday evening said: “The Premier League can today confirm that between Monday September 28 and Sunday October 4, 1,587 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19. Of these, there were nine new positive tests.
“Players or club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate for a period of 10 days.
“The Premier League provides this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details regarding clubs or individuals will be provided by the league and the results will be made public after each round of testing. “
