“And it’s like, ‘God, I’m 21.’ I felt like maybe there were things that hurt the people I was with. ”

Stewart continued, “Not because I was ashamed of being openly gay, but because I didn’t like giving myself to the public, in a way. It was like theft. ”

Kristen also explained that there was a reason she was so careful with her romance with Robert Pattinson.

“It was a time when I was a little suspicious,” she said.

“Even in my previous relationships, which were righteous, we did everything we could not to be photographed doing things – things that would not become our own.

The actress, 30, has been famous for years with former co-star Robert Pattinson, but has been linked with women ever since.

“So I think the added pressure of representing a group of people, of representing queerness, was not something I understood then. It is only now that I can see it. ”

The movie star is currently dating his girlfriend Dylan Meyer.

The couple were first linked in August 2019, a month after Stewart apparently separated from his previous girlfriend, model Stella Maxwell.

Kristen is famous with Robert Pattinson for 4 years from 2009 after meeting on Twilight.

Speaking about her relationship with Robert previously, Kristen admitted that she had become “undercover”.

“When I was dating a guy I would hide everything I did because everything I did seemed immediately trivialized to me, so I didn’t like it,” she told Elle at the time.

Kristen admitted that now that she was older, she could understand the pressure she was feeling in being labeled a ‘lesbian’ at age 21.

“We were turned into these characters and placed in this ridiculous comic,” she added.

“And I was like, ‘It’s mine. You make my relationship something it’s not. I didn’t like it. ”

But she thinks dating women since then has changed how people perceive her.

“It changed when I started dating a girl,” she added. “I was like, ‘Actually, hiding that implies that I’m not disappointed or ashamed of it, so I had to change the way I approach being in public.

“It opened up my life and I’m so much happier.”
