He denies the sexual assault by intentionally touching the woman without her consent on December 5, 2008.
Prosecutor Jocelyn Ledward told Southwark Crown Court on Monday: “The prosecution said it was not accidental contact, but quite deliberate sexual assault.
“The accused laughed again and walked away as if what he had done was perfectly acceptable and no one was going to challenge him. “
The woman didn’t think her complaint would be taken seriously at the time, but told a friend who remained “shocked,” the court said.
It was at the end of 2017, after the MeToo campaign became important, that she decided to come forward.
Leslie voluntarily attended an interview with the police in March 2018, at the end of which he said: “I have never attacked or assaulted anyone. ”
Leslie, whose full name is John Leslie Stott, sat in the dock dressed in a gray suit, as the case against him was exposed.
Ms. Ledward said he grabbed the woman’s breasts “quite deliberately for a few seconds” before walking away.
She said: “The woman was stunned but did not report it to the police. He (Leslie) denies doing such a thing, and if there was any physical contact between them, it must have been an accident. ”
The woman had recognized Leslie at the bar and went to him and he smiled at her, the court heard.
The prosecutor added, “She smiled back at him. Without saying anything more, he grabbed both of her breasts with both hands and laughed as he did so. “
It lasted about three seconds, the court heard.
The trial opened on Monday but the jury was released in the afternoon and Judge Deborah Taylor said the case would start again on Tuesday.
She told the jury: “One juror is unable to continue, so what I’m going to do is, since we’re in the early stages (of this case), is release that jury and take the oath in another. ”
Leslie, from Edinburgh, appeared on Blue Peter between 1989 and 1994 and also featured Wheel Of Fortune and This Morning.
Her father Les Stott listened in the courtroom, where everyone involved in the hearing was socially left behind.
