Lopez says publicly announcing his divorce from Anthony was the “most difficult day of his life.” She says the days after the announcement were the most difficult. One thing she struggled with was sleeping alone.

“The days after our announcement were scary, but it was still very sad, our marriage had failed,” Lopez wrote in his book True love. “And as Marc himself had pointed out, there was nothing I hated more than failure. I was glad to have my mom there so that the house didn’t feel empty, but I still felt lonely waking up alone in bed every morning.

Lopez says she told Anthony that she didn’t think their marriage was working. She had avoided the subject but decided to face their problems and let him know that the marriage was over. She told him that she could tell that neither of them were happy. She also mentioned to Anthony that their children, Max and Emme, were wondering what was going on with their parents. She said Anthony just agreed with everything she said.

Painful as it was, Marc seemed to know what I was saying was true. Deep down, I always wanted him to fight for our family. I wanted him to say, “No, I’m not going to let that happen. I held my breath. But instead he said, ‘OK’ and then he added, ‘I want you to know, I’m always here for you if you ever need anything. I burst into tears.

Jennifer Lopez still remembers the last moments of her split with Marc Anthony

Lopez still remembers the last moments of his breakup with Anthony. She says he hugged her and tried to make her laugh at the end of their goodbye, but she couldn’t find the strength to find the humor at the time.

“The only other thing I remember is when he got up to leave he gave me a big hug,” Lopez wrote. “He came out as I turned and faced the window, but I could still see his reflection on the glass. He had stopped at the door. He stood there for a while, then he made some kind of joke. I turned to greet him, but I couldn’t laugh.

The singer says she was overcome with emotion and the laughs didn’t feel right back then. “I was overwhelmed by the moment – too sad and too upset to participate,” Lopez continued. “At that point, I saw Marc’s whole face change, because he knew the only thing he could always do was make me laugh. On July 15, 2011, we publicly announced that we were going to get a divorce. ”
