Jacksonville Jaguars shut down facility after positive COVID-19 test


JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The Jacksonville Jaguars closed their facilities on Saturday after a player on the practice team tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.The team said they consulted with the NFL, followed NFL protocols, and conducted remote football activities.

The Jaguars are scheduled to host the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. at TIAA Bank Field on Sunday and the team said in a statement they still plan to play the game.

The Jaguars said they learned on Friday night that the player had tested positive and underwent a POC test to confirm the positive result.

The Jaguars sit the players of the practice squad together and separate from other players on the active roster during team meetings.

This is the first positive test for a Jaguars player since running back Ryquell Armstead was placed on the reserve / COVID-19 list on September 5.
