‘Hubie Halloween’ Cameo Cost News anchors its work

Adam Sandler’s latest film Hubie Halloween stumbled across Netflix on October 7th and it’s already killing him in the audience department.

After the success of Murder mystery starring Jennifer Aniston, Netflix has extended Sandler’s contract for four more films. His films are very popular on the streamer and tend to attract top talent and surprise cameos in the lineup. However, a local news anchor just lost her job after appearing in the film.

Alaina Pinto made a guest spot in ‘Hubie Halloween’

Located in Salem, Massachusetts, Hubie Halloween uses its first 15 minutes to showcase Sandler’s character and the town’s quirky holiday spirit.

In these first scenes, a brief piece of information broadcast by a fictitious Boston news station appears on the television screen. Three presenters of “Channel 4’s Wake Up Boston” are dressed as Harley Quinn.

Real-life anchor Alaina Pinto appeared as one of the animators – Erin – who put on Harley Quinn makeup and hair. Pinto’s character sits behind the desk and convinces her colleagues to wear the same costume, but she hasn’t sworn or made any obscene gestures. It was only a few seconds and it had an impact on Pinto’s career.

Pinto fired from Boston press station

On October 15, Pinto posted a series of tweets indicating that she had been fired from WHDH Channel 7 in Boston for her role in the film. However, she is not a disgruntled employee. Pinto admitted that she filmed a little cameo last year for Hubie Halloween and inadvertently violated his employment contract with WHDH.

Pinto explained that it was an oversight on his part, writing: “In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and hoped that this was not how things turned out.

She also thanked her colleagues and viewers for their support. “Bringing the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to keep in touch and keep you posted on the next chapter – the future is bright! Pinto wrote.

She joined the Channel 7 team from Boston in 2016 and before that, worked at a resort in Vermont.

Pinto goes ahead

The former morning anchor continues, but some fans believe the news station may have overreacted. Pinto also posted the note on his Instagram account, and followers expressed their disappointment with the dismissal.

Many wished him luck and others tagged Adam Sandler in the post in hopes he could intervene. Emmy-winning radio host Billy Costa urged her to contact someone at WCVB in Boston for a new opportunity. So far, WHDH has not commented on the matter.

According to Forbes, Hubie Halloween is on its way to breaking one of Netflix’s “Top 10” comedy records. If he holds his number one spot, it will be the longest running streak for a comedy on the streamer.

Depending on how the rest of the month goes for the film, there is a possibility that it will become the best Netflix comedy of the year.
