The hospitality industry is “60% distressed, 40% optimistic” as it faces the next wave of the coronavirus pandemic. This is the opinion of Sébastien Bazin, CEO of AccorHotels, the largest hotel company in Europe. Bazin spoke with FRANCE 24 about the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. He says aid from the European government has been “indispensable” but member states need to coordinate more on travel guidelines, and predicts that the region will not return to pre-pandemic occupancy levels until 2023.
