A Georgian newspaper editor has revealed how he and his daughter plan to star in a new cotillion film only to be tricked into being a part of Borat 2.
Will Davis, editor of the Monroe County Reporter, said he was contacted in February to be part of a movie scene about an Eastern European girl attending her first party.
The two Davis teens attended cotillion classes where they learned etiquette and the fox waltz and trot and friends asked them to participate in the scene of the film.
Davis and her 18 year old daughter, Abby, thought it sounded like a good idea as all they would have to do is dress up, dance, enjoy the free food and they would be paid $ 50 each. .
When the big day of filming finally arrived, they were shocked to find an Eastern European father and daughter duo acting “wild”, flashing the crowd and approaching the guests, before realizing that they were swindled.
Will Davis, editor of the Monroe County Reporter, revealed that he and his 18-year-old daughter were tricked into being filmed in Borat 2. They were asked to dress and dance in a stage on a petticoat, only to be humiliated by Sacha Baron Cohen and the Borat 2 cast
While preparing for the film, the movie company asked Davis and his daughter to take a short online quiz that tested their knowledge of pop culture and asked them if they knew characters like Will Ferrell, Sacha Baron Cohen and Mike Huckabee. Davis said he could only identify Huckabee.
Then came the in-person interview with several representatives of the film studio who asked them about their work and family and asked them to sign a waiver.
On the day of filming, the father-daughter duo visited the Hay House in Macon.
“On the big night, I sucked my tummy, tied up in my tuxedo and off we went,” Davis wrote in an article for the Monroe County Reporter, which he owns.
Davis said they were asked to transform into cell phones which gave them a “cold sweat” and noticed a slew of armed security guards around the building.
Borat 2 follows the journey of Kazakh character Borat Sagdiyev to the United States where he presents his daughter in a cotillion ceremony in the south
Davis said he believed the script for the film was about an Eastern European girl trying to make her debut in southern society at the cotillion ceremony. Sacha Baron Cohen and Irina Nowak pictured above in the trailer for the film entering the cotillion
“The father was tall, had a long nose and acted wildly all night long, rearing up in a long coat. He approached me while we were waiting in the presentation line and pulled out a Georgian-English dictionary and pointed at words wildly trying to tell me something, ”Davis said.
The father-daughter duos were split into two teams, A and B.
Davis said he was on Team B and were asked to wait while Team A filmed in the ballroom and hosted special guests, including two daughters and their father from Georgia , Eastern European countries.
The word has spread in the Hay House that the script [of the movie] was that a young girl from the country of Georgia dreamed of making her debut in the southern United States. She and her dad had arrived and would be filmed interacting with local dads and daughters, ”Davis said.
Davis said he felt something strange when he tried to exit the room and was stopped by an armed guard.
‘What do you need?!’ asked the guard.
Davis replied “Uh, just get some fresh air” and weirdly started to feel like “a hostage”.
Eventually, Team B was called into the ballroom for the cameras where Davis and the rest of the dancers were finally able to meet the foreign guests.
Cotillion attendees reacted with shock to seeing the “wild” behavior of special guests as they “cackled”
To conclude the evening, the producers announced that Georgian guests wanted to perform an Eastern European folk dance. “Suddenly the ‘girl’ lifted her hoop skirt, twirling and revealing no underwear,” Davis said.
The guests reacted with shock when the actors performed their dance and the “girl” lifted her skirt.
“The father was tall, had a long nose and acted wildly all night long, rearing up in a long coat,” Davis wrote.
“He approached me while we were waiting in the presentation line and pulled out a Georgian-English dictionary and pointed at words savagely trying to tell me something,” Davis said.
He noted that the strange man continued to act oddly with other dads and daughters as the cameras rolled.
“It was reported that he was trying to ask some fathers for a ‘prize’ for their daughters,” Davis said.
To wrap up the evening, the producers announced that the Georgian guests wanted to perform an Eastern European folk dance and started dancing side by side in sync before the girl shocked the dance floor.
“Suddenly the ‘girl’ lifted her hoop skirt, twirling and revealing no underwear,” recalls Davis.
Shocked members of the public walked over to the cash register and asked their phones to go.
“My precious daughter and I walked out into Macon’s chilly night with our mouths agape wondering what just happened,” Davis said.
“Of course our cotillion friends, after being hoo-doooed to host the masquerade, were humiliated and apologized,” said Davis (pictured with one of his daughters). He said, while he wasn’t angry that he was pranked by being a part of the movie, “I’ll laugh a lot harder if we have the last laugh on November 3rd”
Later that night a friend called Davis and said the crazy Georgian guest at the ball was actually comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, the actor behind the film Borat: America’s Cultural Lessons for the Nation. glorious Kazakhstan.
The friend discovered that all of Team B had been invited into the online quiz if they could not identify Cohen.
“Cohen’s modus operandi seems to try to embarrass and shock southern conservative audiences about cinema,” Davis wrote.
“Of course our cotillion friends, after being hoo-doooed to host the masquerade, were humiliated and apologized,” Davis added.

In September, Davis learned that Borat 2 had finished filming and that it was a fake documentary where Baron Cohen went incognito to interview and shock unsuspecting Americans.
Davis was then mortified to see the Borat 2 trailer released earlier this month and to see himself and his friends being fooled on camera.
“The trailer was released and there we were cheering like seals trained for Cohen and his ‘daughter,’ Davis said.
“I have no problem Borat laughing at our expense. I find some of his stuff pretty funny, ”Davis said.
“I’ll laugh a lot harder if we have the last word on November 3,” he added.
