France’s new daily COVID-19 case surpasses 25,000 again

PARIS (Reuters) – French health authorities on Wednesday reported 26,676 new COVID-19 infections, the sixth time in 12 days the daily tally remained above the 25,000 threshold.

The number of people who have died in France from COVID-19 infections has increased by 163, to 34,048, and the cumulative number of cases now stands at 957,421.

The resurgence of the pandemic is such that the government will likely announce a geographic extension of a curfew, currently imposed in Paris and eight other major cities from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
