France reports more than 12,000 new coronavirus infections


PARIS, Oct.2 (Reuters) – The French Ministry of Health on Friday reported 12,148 new confirmed coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, down from Thursday’s 13,970 and well below the highs of more than 16,000 seen the week last.

The total number of infections since the start of the epidemic has risen to 589,653. France has also reported 136 new deaths from the coronavirus – the highest daily toll since mid-May – for a cumulative total of 32,155. Last Friday, he had already reported a death toll of 150 in one day.
