The French authorities have launched two calls for tenders for projects, in line with a new national development plan for carbon-free hydrogen, announced on September 8.

The French government launched two calls for tenders for green hydrogen on Friday as part of its new hydrogen strategy.

The first call for tenders will be carried out by Ademe, the French agency for the environment and energy management. It will mainly be intended for businesses.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition wishes to develop systems linked to the production and transport of hydrogen, in addition to designing new vehicles, in particular for road and rail transport. Projects can be built in partnership with other companies and / or research actors. Applications must be submitted by December 31st.

The second call for tenders relates to “territorial hydrogen ecosystems” and will support investments in the production and distribution of renewable or carbon-free hydrogen. The focus will be on industrial and mobility applications, in particular for utilities and heavy transport vehicles. The objective of the call for tenders is to bring together communities and industrial entities to support large-scale ecosystems, while promoting economies of scale.

The call for tenders is aimed at communities and companies wishing to invest in the production and distribution of hydrogen, as well as in industrial and mobility uses. Applications must be submitted by December 17th.

The French government wants to put in place 6.5 GW of hydrogen production capacity by 2030, France Relaunch Covid-19 recovery plan.
