France extends curfew to more regions – PM Castex

PARIS, October 22 (Reuters) – French Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Thursday that due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the government would extend the 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew to 38 other departments, from from Friday to midnight.

He said the curfew would now affect a total of 46 million people and include some French overseas territories. France has a population of around 67 million people.

Last week, France already imposed a curfew in Paris and eight other major cities. (Reporting by Sudip Kar-Gupta; Writing by Geert De Clercq; Editing by Benoit Van Overstraeten)
