Former Miss America winner Leanza Cornett has died at the age of 49. The Miss America Organization confirmed her death in a statement on Wednesday, after a Facebook group wrote on Oct. 16 that Leanza had “suffered a serious head injury which required emergency surgery.”

Her ex-husband Mark Steines also confirmed the news.
