Five people have died after a passenger plane and a microlight collided in western France, local officials said.The small ULM carrying two people collided with a DA40 tourist plane with three people on board around 4.30 p.m. local time (2.30 p.m. GMT) on Saturday in Loches in the department of Indre-et-Loire, said Nadia Seghier, head of the local government. AFP news agency.

“(The ULL) landed on the fence around a house without harming anyone else, (the DA40) several hundred meters away in an uninhabited area,” Seghier said. “All five people involved are dead.

About fifty firefighters were arrested while around thirty gendarmes set up road detours around the scene of the crash.

“The personnel of the air emergencies of Lyon were first brought to track down the plane, which was quickly found”, indicated the prefecture.

No details on the identity of the victims or the causes of the collision have so far been disclosed.

The Loches police have resumed the investigation of the accident.
