Facebook removes Trump’s post mistakenly claiming flu is deadlier than Covid

Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone confirmed that the company deleted the post for breaking its rules on disinformation about Covid-19.President Trump has, by his own admission, played down the threat of Covid-19. Now, while battling his own bout of the disease, he has continued to dishonestly downplay the severity of the virus.

His Tuesday post falsely equated Covid-19 with seasonal flu.

The president also posted the same message on Twitter. That post is still live, but Twitter added a message to the Tweet that it was in violation of the company’s policy on disseminating misleading information related to Covid-19.

In August, Facebook and Twitter deleted a post from Trump for containing false allegations about Covid-19. The post contained a video of the president in an interview with Fox News in which he incorrectly claimed that children are “almost immune” to the virus.
