Liverpool’s road to Istanbul starts here as they kick off their Champions League Group B campaign on Wednesday night. The 2019 champions have been regrouped alongside Atalanta Italy and Denmark’s FC Midtjylland, but it is in Amsterdam that Klopp’s side return to continental action for the first time.

Liverpool travel to Ajax for what will be the only meeting between the sides in 54 years as two iconic clubs in European football face off in their first game since December 1966.

For the Reds there will, of course, be no Virgil van Dijk but Klopp hopes to provide more positive updates on Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip.

Alisson Becker’s long-term fitness could also be on the agenda as Liverpool prepare for their first game in this competition since their last against fans against Atletico Madrid in March.

Paul Gorst will report live as Klopp takes on the media at 6 p.m. UK time after his Ajax counterpart Erik ten Hag addressed the media at 2:15 p.m.
