Meanwhile, 39 schools in the Edmonton area have outbreaks, including 10 on the province’s watchlist, according to the State of Alberta Schools website.

Alberta Health considers two cases of COVID-19 at a school within two weeks as an outbreak where others are forced to self-isolate as a result.

Two other Catholic schools have epidemics with two cases each in St. Oscar Romero and Archbishop Joseph MacNeil. St. Matthew was recently added to the province’s outbreak list.

Edmonton’s Michael Strembitsky Public School is also affected by an epidemic, as are private schools Thomas More Academy, Edmonton Islamic Academy, and AlBaqir Academy.

As of Monday, single cases have also been reported in Saint Lucia, Saint-Vladimir, Saint-Vincent, LINC Program One World Center, Saint-Nicolas, JJ Bowlen, Bishop Motiuk, Eastglen School, Scott Robertson School, LY Cairns School, Calder School, Elizabeth Finch School and Steinhauer School.

To date, there have been 171,323 cases of COVID-19, including 9,530 deaths. The World Health Organization reported 35,347,404 cases worldwide, including more than one million deaths on Tuesday.
