Donald Trump attacks Facebook and Twitter over Hunter Biden story

The president took to Twitter to tear up the two social media giants over their stance on the story published by the New York Post.

“So terrible that Facebook and Twitter told the story of the ‘Smoking Gun’ emails linked to Sleepy Joe Biden and his son Hunter in the @nypost,” Mr. Trump tweeted.

“This is just the start for them. There is nothing worse than a corrupt politician. REPEAL OF SECTION 230 !!! “

Earlier, Facebook had said it was slowing the dissemination of the New York Post’s controversial Hunter Biden story after it was published.

The company said it would rely on fact-checking partners to decide if the story is legitimate, but until then it will “reduce its distribution on our platform.”

“While I don’t intentionally link to the New York Post, I want to make it clear that this story can be verified by Facebook’s third-party fact-checking partners,” Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone said.

“In the meantime, we are reducing its distribution on our platform.

“It’s part of our standard process to reduce the spread of disinformation. We are temporarily reducing distribution pending review by the fact checker. “

Meanwhile, Twitter has blocked people from retweeting the story as part of its new election rules.

According to a spokesperson for Twitter, the story also violated their policy on pirated content.
