Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott returned home, about 24 hours after being transported from the field to hospital with a broken ankle.
Dallas coach Mike McCarthy confirmed today that Prescott has undergone successful surgery and been released from hospital, and is now recovering at home.
Prescott appears to be finished for the 2020 season, but Cowboys executive vice-president Stephen Jones said the team still sees Prescott as their quarterback of the future.
For Prescott to be the Cowboys’ quarterback of the future, he will need a new contract, as he currently plays on the $ 31.4 million one-year franchise tag. There are plans to hit free agency again in the offseason. The Cowboys could keep him for another year with a one-year franchise tag and $ 37.7 million, or they could sign him on a long-term contract, or they could let him walk. Prescott has a lot to consider as he begins the long road to returning to the field.
