COVID-19: Tale of Two Twitters in Surrey, Vancouver School Districts

Content of the article continued

Director of the Vancouver School District Suzanne Hoffman has just over 3,000 followers on Twitter and does not post COVID-19 exposure notices, nor the Twitter profile of the district, with over 12,000 subscribers.

Neither the Surrey Schools nor the Vancouver School Board websites provide easy access to exhibit notices.

According to Fraser Health, Surrey schools have 17 of the region’s 32 active exhibits – followed by the Burnaby and Coquitlam school districts (with four each).

However, the information posted on their website had not been updated on Sunday with the three exhibits reported by Surrey schools over the weekend or a Sunday afternoon report that there had been exposure to Jarvis Traditional Elementary School in Delta.

Fraser Health had reported an outbreak at Hatzic Middle School on Saturday.

Vancouver Coastal Health reports 25 active exhibits, with the Vancouver School District representing 13.

Interior Health reported four school exposures, Northern Health seven and Island Health one (in Campbell River).

According to data from the BC Center for Disease Control, 360 children aged 10 and under have tested positive for COVID-19 and 613 aged 10 to 19. In the past four days, 45 children under the age of 10 have tested positive in British Columbia.
