A COVID-19 epidemic has been declared in a unit at Saint-Boniface hospital, according to a note obtained by Global News.The letter, sent to staff and doctors in Saint-Boniface, says two patients in Unit E6 contracted the virus during their stay in hospital.

“This led us to quickly assess the unit and test any contacts that might have been exposed between October 5 and October 16,” the note said.

The unit is closed to admissions and visits have been limited. Additional cleaning procedures are in place.

The hospital will remain open and clinics and procedures will continue as usual.

“The hospital is safe for patients and other approved visitors / designated essential support persons,” the memo reads.
