An outbreak has been declared at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg after two patients contracted COVID-19 at the hospital.A letter to staff and doctors on Friday, of which CBC obtained a copy, says a ‘cluster’ of COVID-19 cases connected to the E6 unit were recently identified, prompting testing of all contacts potentially exposed between October 5 and October. 16.
This unit is now closed to admissions and visits are limited, although the hospital remains open.
“The hospital is safe for patients and other approved visitors / designated essential support persons,” the internal letter reads.
CBC News has reached out to the province and St. Boniface Hospital for comment.
