The city of Montreal has once again closed the parking lot on Mount Royal in an attempt to dissuade people from gathering on the mountain.
“Unfortunately, traffic on Mount Royal is too high to respect the distancing measures”, the city tweeted Monday.
Montreal police spokesperson Véronique Comtois asked people to avoid the park altogether. If people are leaving again, Comtois added, they should “of course respect the sanitary measures in place.”
The city closed the parking lot in early April, during the first wave of the pandemic. It was reopened in mid-June.
Earlier Monday, Mayor Valérie Plante urged Montrealers to avoid congregating in popular parks today and instead opt for their local parks.
