COVID-19: Fraser Health cases report almost double the number keeping schools closed in Washington state

Henry said there were now 2,316 active cases of the disease, with 87 of those cases being treated in hospital – including 25 in intensive care. Two people died between noon Tuesday and noon Wednesday, bringing that total to 261. One of those who died was a man in his 60s who was hospitalized in the interior health region. This was the third COVID-19 death reported in this health region.

Henry said there were 5,358 people in self-isolation after being potentially exposed to the virus and 11,244 people who had recovered.

There are 22 active outbreaks in healthcare settings, including a new one at the PICS Society Assisted Living Center in Surrey. Outbreaks at Dr Al Hogg Lodge and Delta Hospital have been declared over. Thirteen of the new cases were in long-term care facilities.

Henry said there has been a new outbreak in the community at the Okanagan Men’s Center addiction treatment north of Kelowna.
