Contract tracers alert close contacts of the four students to positive results to ensure they are tested and quarantined.

Western said all students are quarantined off campus, along with some of them who have been in close contact “as a precaution.”

“Students who have tested positive isolate themselves outside their homes. We deliver meals to them and our staff are in regular contact to make sure students are well supported, ”said Chris Alleyne, associate vice president of housing.

All students residing at London Hall are informed.

Public health officials have asked post-secondary students in London to stay here over Thanksgiving weekend, rather than travel to their hometowns and risk transmission of COVID-19 between communities. It is not known how many students at Western and Fanshawe College took this advice.

Western students and teachers can be tested at the school’s COVID-19 testing center in the student recreation center, but it doesn’t reopen until Tuesday morning.
