While many have returned to work after stoppages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, that doesn’t mean the virus is gone.
For those who are still unable to work – whether due to recovery or taking care of a loved one – the end of CERB has also added another element to the current challenges of 2020.
Fortunately, many of those who relied on CERB were able to switch to federal employment insurance. For those who are not, three other lifelines are available, one of which will be open for applications on Monday, October 12.
Canada Recovery Benefit – Applications Open October 12
Applications for the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) are open on October 12.
This program will help workers who do not qualify for EI or any of the other new collection benefits. This includes people who are self-employed or earn their money from the odd-job economy.
To be eligible for CRB, you must either have stopped working due to COVID-19 or have seen your income drop by at least half. The new benefit will provide $ 500 per week for a maximum of 26 weeks and will be paid in batches of two weeks.
