Clothing retailer Le Chateau calls for CCAA protection, plans to shut down


MONTREAL – Le Château Inc. says it is seeking court protection against creditors to allow it to close and liquidate its assets. Le Chateau’s claim under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act will be heard today by a Quebec court.

The clothing retailer says it can no longer continue as an operating business.

He says the circumstances leave the company with no choice but to initiate the liquidation process.

Le Château has 123 branches in Canada and an e-commerce platform serving Canada and the United States

It has 500 employees at head office and 900 employees in retail stores.
