Police are currently investigating the incident, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“So what we do know is that one customer was very upset to be served the wrong drink,” Const said. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
“The manager replaced the drink, made up the difference with money and thought the problem was solved. (It was) not enough for her, ”O’Brien said.
Police say the drink was heavily splashed on the drive-thru window and the employee was not injured to their knowledge.
The driver who recorded the encounter says he is not sure what happened before or after the encounter but saw the woman approaching the drive-thru window from a car parked nearby. After throwing her drink at the employee, the witness said the staff member had been replaced by another worker and the drive-thru continued to move.
The gendarmerie say the woman could now be charged with assault.
“If (the employee) was injured, it could have been an assault with a weapon or worse,” O’Brien said.
Police say they are trying to identify the woman and are confident someone will be able to recognize her from the dashcam video, which is described as “strong evidence”.
