This Friday marks the start of a long 16-day period for most businesses as they will be forced to close due to the Welsh government’s upcoming coronavirus firewall. The move, which will be introduced at 6 p.m., is done in an effort to combat the spread of the virus, and means all non-essential businesses, gyms, recreation centers, bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and hospitality must close.

Community centers, libraries and recycling centers will also have to close, along with hairdressers and beauty salons, while all indoor and outdoor gatherings with people you don’t live with are banned.

But many businesses will remain open and will not be affected by the restrictions.

They are considered essential services and can therefore continue to function.

They are as follows:

Supermarkets and food stores

Supermarkets and food stores will remain unchanged. There are no fixed rules on how far to reach these shops, but the Welsh government advises people ‘to avoid unnecessary travel and avoid crowded spaces where possible, especially in the ‘inside’.

He adds on his website: “Alternative approaches such as online services and deliveries should be used where possible. ”

When stores are allowed to open, they are also allowed to provide click and collect service, but these must be provided in a secure manner by Covid and you must not travel long distances to access click services and collection, adds the Welsh government.

The steps

Domestic markets are expected to remain open during the fire break period.

This includes Swansea Market, which announced that customers will still be able to access stalls selling food and groceries, as well as take-out at cafes.

Banks, post offices and pharmacies

Like the last time we went into lockdown, banks, post offices and pharmacies are considered essential services and will not be affected.

However, some may have different operating hours.

Tire and Service Centers

The tire and service centers will also remain open.

One such company is Gorseinon Tire & Service Center, which wrote on its Facebook page: ‘Following the recent announcement from the Welsh government regarding the circuit breaker lockout, we will remain open as usual as we are an essential service. .

“Any future bookings you may already have with us will still be accepted and we are always open for new bookings. Due to some customers who may protect elderly or vulnerable customers, please do not hesitate to contact us and we can arrange for your vehicle to be collected / dropped off.

“To reiterate, we are open to all mechanical repairs, MOTS, maintenance, tires, tracking and much more. “

Waste disposal facilities

While recycling centers will be closed, all regular household waste collection and recycling services will continue as usual.

Delivery and take-out services may still take place

Many food and beverage companies will continue to operate take-out and delivery service during this time.
