British Columbia Reports 82 New COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death, Sets New Test Record


British Columbia set a new test record on Thursday, as health officials reported 82 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death.After rising slightly on Wednesday, the number of active cases continued the downward trend shown for more than a week, falling to 1,261.

About 3,093 people have remained in isolation due to possible exposure, provincial health official Dr. Bonnie Henry said in a live briefing. The province also performed 10,899 tests over a 24-hour period, Henry added.

Sixty-nine people were hospitalized with the disease. Nineteen of them are in critical or intensive care.

About 83 percent of British Columbia’s 9,220 cases had recovered, while 235 people died.
