Best Prime Day 2020 Amazon Echo deals: Show 5, Echo Auto, and Echo Dot for Kids get big discounts

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Prepare yourself, buyers. Amazon Prime Day starts in just three days! For this year’s Prime Day, you’ll have a 48-hour window to take advantage of big discounts on October 13-14. Amazon has already released a series of Prime Day Countdown Offers, and rivals like Best buy, Walmart et Target announced price cuts during the same period. But the best deals will arrive on the official days themselves. Amazon has already announced some great deals for Prime Day itself, like a $ 19 Echo Dot and a $ 65 Echo Show 8, but a few devices are already enjoying their bigger discounts. We will continue to update this story as more offers become available.

Best smart speaker and Prime Day deal display yet

Last year on Prime Day, the Echo Show 5 – Amazon’s smallest smart display – hit $ 50. This year it’s already at $ 45, or $ 40.50 if you’re using a Prime credit card. Whether you want a screen for video chatting, watching Netflix, or just using it as a smart alarm clock, the Show 5 is a great little gadget.

As a bonus, you can also add a Blink Mini smart camera or TP-Link smart plug for just $ 5. You can also add a one-year subscription to the Food Network Kitchen app for free. Read our review of Echo Show 5.

OK, this is not the new 2020 version of the Echo Dot for Kids. And that one might just get a big discount next week. But if you want a kid-friendly Alexa smart speaker, this older version is currently a steal at just $ 35.

Amazon Echo Auto is a smart little device that connects Alexa in your car, allowing the voice assistant to speak and play music through your stereo. At $ 30 off, the Echo Auto is a steal for anyone looking to upgrade their car without voice.

Amazon’s all-new Amazon Echo spherical smart speaker will ship on October 22, and the company already has a small deal on the device. When you check out, if you use the discount code ECHO2PK, it will offer a rebate of $ 30 off the total of $ 200 required for the purchase of two new Echo speakers.

If you want an Echo for yourself and one for a family member or friend, that’s not a bad deal – and I’d be surprised to see the new Echo speaker drop much more before it launches in two. weeks.

Best offers announced (but not yet online)

$ 19 is a steal for the most popular Echo speaker ever, and Amazon is clearly trying to make way for its next generation in a few weeks. So if you want a great budget speaker for the price of a good meal (remember that?), You might want to close this deal when it arrives.

Plus, you can add a free Lifx Wi-Fi bulb with purchase, which significantly improves on an already solid offering.

Amazon’s best smart display is this 8 inch touchscreen device. Usually it costs $ 130, but on Prime Day, you can expect to find it for half the price, and it could even include packages, like a free subscription to Food Network’s cooking app.

Amazon’s largest smart display, the second-generation Echo Show with a 10.1-inch display, will go on sale for $ 150 on day one. That’s a $ 80 discount from its regular price of $ 230, and it’s not that bad. It’s another device Amazon is probably eager to clean up, as its replacement will likely arrive before the holiday season.

A Ring Video Doorbell costs $ 200 and the Echo Show 5 smart display costs $ 90. But on Prime Day, Amazon will be offering them as a package for $ 150. If you’re looking to start a smart home around a video doorbell, this deal is one of the best you can find.

The Echo Show 8 is one of our favorite smart displays because the screen is big enough and high enough resolution for comfortable video chatting and Netflix frenzy, and the sound is fantastic. Right now, you can win a Show 8 for $ 105. While this deal will likely improve over the next few days, a $ 25 cut on one of the best smart displays on the market is a solid option.

What makes the offer more appetizing is the free addition of a one-year subscription to Food Network Kitchen, a kitchen helper app. Just make sure you select the option before you go. Read our Echo Show 8 review.

Prime Day tips on smart speakers and displays

  • Amazon has just announced a new Echo speaker, Echo point, and Dot with clock. In the old days, Amazon Fall Announcements came after First day. Since we know what’s coming, we can expect even bigger discounts for Amazon’s smart home devices, especially those that are being phased out. Last year the Third Generation Echo Dot landed at a low price of $ 22 on Prime Day, and with a new version coming in a few weeks, I wouldn’t be surprised to see prices even lower. Likewise, the Second generation echo bottomed out at $ 50, and we might see the third-gen Echo drop this year too.
  • Echo smart displays are already getting big discounts this year. the Second Generation Echo Show will probably drop in costs, because the next Show 10 will replace it. Last year the Echo Show 5 hit a low price of $ 50 (that’s $ 40 off), and the second-gen Echo Show sold for $ 160 ($ 70 off).
  • Look for discounts on competitors and pre-orders. Google Nest Audio might see discounts around Prime Day to compete with Amazon’s products. Additionally, Amazon’s new speakers are now available for pre-order, and these devices could see price reductions before shipping later this month. The Echo Show 10 is not yet available for pre-order, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see pre-orders open with a promotional price, so keep an eye out for this product page.
