Benrahma transfer saga takes another turn as star drops Aston Villa injury clue

Injury update

Brazilian Aston Villa forward Wesley is getting excited to return to action.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury in the 2-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on New Years Day.

A deadline has not been set for Wesley’s recovery, but he is expected to be out for a bit longer than goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who also suffered a serious injury in the same game.

When Wesley returns he will find a new rival for his place in the Villa attack with the scorching Ollie Watkins making his mark after a £ 28million transfer from Brentford.

Aston Villa has a new record signing – Ollie Watkins.

More movement?

Aston Villa have not given up on the race to sign Bournemouth forward Josh King, according to reports.

Former Manchester United intern King is looking to leave the South Coast club before Friday’s transfer deadline and secure a return to the Premier League.

There has been a lot of interest in King with Villa, West Ham and Everton all reportedly interested in signing him.

The 28-year-old was unable to find a new club before the original October 5 transfer deadline, leaving a lot to think about his future as Friday’s second deadline for EFL deals approaches.

Gareth Southgate has hit back at Mason Mount’s criticism after selecting Chelsea midfielder ahead of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

Mount kicked off the Nations League clash with Belgium on Sunday and scored the winning goal at Wembley.

Southgate chose to pitch Mount instead of Grealish despite Villa captain’s man of the match performance in the friendly 3-0 win over Wales in midweek.

The decision annoyed Villa fans who had tapped into the Three Lions game in hopes of seeing Grealish win his third senior cap.

Aston Villa’s 7-2 annihilation of Premier League champions Liverpool has reportedly triggered the pay-per-view plan which has infuriated football fans.

Dean Smith’s side dismantled Liverpool at Villa Park in their last game before the international break to claim three of three Premier League wins.

Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick while John McGinn, Ross Barkley and Jack Grealish (2) were also on target as Villa produced one of the most surprising scores in Premier League history.

The game started at 7.15pm last Sunday, a time that had been moved to add it to the additional schedule of live matches.

Aston Villa fans on Said Benrahma links

Lisa Starr: Better to buy Benrahma and use Bertrand Traoré as an attacker if necessary.

Joe Young: Come on Villa please hijack this matter. Come on Benrahma do you really want to play under Moyes / Sullivan and Gold or do you want to join Dean Smith’s revolution under the best owners in the league. Ask your mate Ollie.

AVFCchats : Don’t think we’ll take a big step for Benrahma, and don’t think he’s a necessity, but would definitely take him if he became available

Villa Watch : Benrahma has always been Smith’s priority after Watkins… serious interest but maybe a little late (West Ham)
