Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator unhappy with Cincinnati Bengals goal on Weekend 5

Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Don Martindale appeared unhappy with the Cincinnati Bengals’ decision to throw a basket late in Sunday’s game. With the Ravens edging 27-0 in the last minute, the Bengals chose to shoot for a basket with 37 seconds left in the game.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, this is only the fifth time since 1970 that a team has thrown a basket in the last minute to avoid a shutout.

When asked about his reaction to the move, Martindale appeared to be trying his luck against Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.

“He knew what it was because it was awfully quiet when I yelled at him across the field. There are people who take this as a victory. We will see. We’ll have a lot to say the next time we play them, ”Martindale said via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said it wouldn’t have been a factor if Baltimore stopped the Bengals on either of the fourth downs.

Right now, the Ravens and Bengals will play Week 17.
