‘Away’ canceled by Netflix after one season – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has chosen not to resume a second season of A way, his space drama series with Hilary Swank. The decision comes just over a month after Season 1 premiered on September 4.

When making renewal / cancellation decisions, Netflix managers analyze audience versus cost. A way Spent several weeks in the top 10 of the Nielsen streaming audience rankings, peaking at # 2 for its first full week of release

Created by Andrew Hinderaker, A way stars Swank as American astronaut Emma Green. As Green prepares to lead an international crew on the first Mars mission, she must reconcile her decision to leave her husband (Josh Charles) and teenage daughter (Talitha Bateman) behind when they need them most. As the crew’s space travel intensifies, their personal dynamics and the effects of being away from loved ones on Earth become increasingly complex.

The series is produced by Hinderaker, showrunner Jessica Goldberg, Jason Katims, Matt Reeves, Andrew Hinderaker, Edward Zwick, Swank, Adam Kassan and Jeni Mulein. Universal Television is the studio.
