Atlantic Premiers Call for Urgent Action in Response to WestJet Service Cutbacks

The premiers of the four Atlantic provinces are calling for “urgent action” from the federal government to address the gaps left by a reduction in WestJet services.Yesterday, the airline announced the suspension of service to airports in Moncton, Fredericton, Sydney, Charlottetown and Quebec City effective November 2, as well as a reduction of services to St. John’s and Halifax.

Premier Andrew Furey, along with the Premiers of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick are meeting to express their “deep concern” about this decision.

They say we need to work as a region and as a country to ensure that these vital transport links stay in place.
