It was reported on Sunday that West Ham had reached a deal with Brentford to sign Benrahma for a fee of around £ 30million.
West Ham might not have it all in their own way, however, with The Athletic now reporting that Villa has registered a ‘late interest’ in bringing Benrahma to the second town.
David Ornstein rapporte: “It seems (like) there is late interest in Benrahma from Aston Villa & Fulham (Crystal Palace considered but never seriously pursued) – however, as it stands, West Ham remains in control.
Dean Smith is a longtime admirer of Benrahma and wanted to bring him to Villa Park ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, but Villa took a different direction. Villa has already signed Ezri Konsa and bought the record from Ollie Watkins from former Smith club Brentford.
Benrahma scored 17 goals and added nine more assists for the Bees last season as they narrowly missed their promotion to the Premier League. He recently reminded potential contenders of his talents with an astonishing brace against Fulham in his only start to the season.
