Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday called for a ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, the Minister said. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They stressed that the recent attacks, which would target civilian targets, both along the line of contact and in the territories of Azerbaijan and Armenia outside the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, constitute an unacceptable threat to stability in the region, the statement said.

“Referring to the statement made by the Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on October 1, the three main diplomats call once again on the parties to the conflict to immediately and unconditionally conclude a ceasefire,” did he declare.

Fighting continues along the contact line of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have straddled the mountainous region of Nagorno-Karabakh since 1988. Peace talks have been taking place since 1994, when a ceasefire was reached, but there were occasion of minor clashes.
