Apple today announced a new iPhone 12 mini. This is the first time Apple has used the nickname “mini” on its iPhone line, having used it on iPod mini, iPad mini, and Mac mini before. It also includes a quad-core graphics processor, which Apple claims will enable “console-grade gaming.”
The iPhone 12 mini also shares the rest of the main specifications and design of the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 mini has flat aluminum sides which now match the iPad Pro and the iPad Air (and are similar to iPhone 4 from 10 years ago).
Shared specs include a 12-megapixel f / 1.6 main camera – the fastest aperture of any iPhone to date – and a 12MP ultra-wide. Apple has improved low-light performance on the iPhone 12 mini, and the front camera will also include its own night mode.
The iPhone 12 mini’s display glass is also coated with what Apple describes as a “ceramic shield” for added durability. Water and dust resistance has also been improved to an IP68 rating.
Apple also uses the new MagSafe Magnetic System on the iPhone 12. It supports wireless chargers (including Qi-enabled devices), case accessories, and even leather wallets which all attach to the back of the device. the device.
