Anya Taylor-Joy is officially coming from New mutants at Angry. She has just been chosen as the main character in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Angry, co-written and directed by George Miller. If he will be joined by Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in unknown roles.
According to reports, Warner Bros. has not yet officially turned on the filmbut it is in “advanced development” and after that news is a priority for the studio.
While we don’t know who Hemsworth or Abdul-Mateen II will be playing, we do know quite a bit about Angry himself, like Miller talked about the movie for years. During the long development and production of Road of fury, Miller helped write an origin story for Charlie Theron’s character, only so that the actress has something to draw. Of course, the character immediately became an icon and eventually, Miller decided he would make a movie that would explain the story of Furiosa before hitting the road with Max.
Miller had hoped Theron could reprise the role, but he was never convinced by digital aging technology. Theron herself has expressed disappointment on the decision to recast but, ultimately, accepts Miller’s vision.
Taylor-Joy, who wowed audiences for the first time The witch, was among several actresses who had been practically audition for the role over the past few months. She is a powerful and imposing performer who should be excellent in what is sure to be a demanding role.
The question now is, when the hell will we see this movie? Miller is working on another film first, a film that was supposed to be filming already but had to be pushed due to the pandemic. It stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton. When it’s over, however, hopefully it will be Furious Team.
