AMD reportedly in advanced talks to buy Xilinx in more than $ 30 billion deal

Advanced Micro Devices is in advanced talks to buy rival chipmaker Xilinx in a deal that could be valued at more than $ 30 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.A deal, which could mark the latest big merger in the rapidly consolidating semiconductor industry, can be reached as early as next week, the newspaper reported.

The two companies could not be reached immediately for comment outside of normal working hours.
